    For optimal system performance, we advise having your septic tank pumped every 2 to 3 years.

  • What can I flush down the toilet?

    Standard toilet paper is the only item that should be flushed. Avoid flushing any other materials, including so-called flushable wipes.

  • Can I flush a flushable wipe?

    Despite their name, flushable wipes should not be flushed. They can cause significant issues in septic systems and water treatment facilities by forming clogs.

  • What is the process for installing a new septic system?

    The process involves four main steps: 1. Engage a local engineer. 2. Schedule a perc test with Mount Everett Sanitation. 3. Obtain a design plan from the engineer. 4. Request an estimate from Mount Everett Sanitation based on the design plan.

  • How do I maintain my septic system?

    Proper maintenance includes regular pumping, annual filter cleaning, and careful monitoring of what enters the drains.

  • Do you offer emergency septic system services?

  • What happens if I don't have my septic system pumped?

    Neglecting to pump your septic system can lead to solid waste buildup over time, potentially resulting in severe backups and costly repairs, remediation, or cleanup.

  • What should I do if my septic alarm goes off?

    If your septic alarm activates, mute it and contact Mount Everett Sanitation to arrange service. The system typically has a few days of reserve capacity, allowing normal use of facilities in the interim.

  • Before I sell my home, do I need to have my septic system inspected?

    Massachusetts law requires a Title 5 septic inspection for all real estate transactions. Request a service from Mount Everett Sanitation to schedule this mandatory inspection.

  • How often will the portable toilet be serviced?

    We provide weekly maintenance for portable toilets, which includes emptying the unit, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking with 2 rolls of toilet paper.
